| QUIRK SYSTEM A Quirk (個性 Kosei, lit. "Individuality"), is a special, superhuman ability that a person can have. The first person in the world to manifest a Quirk was a newborn baby in Qingqing City, China; the baby had the ability to emanate light from their body. After that phenomenon, many people around the world began to manifest different kinds of superpowers. While the cause of the Quirk phenomenon is unknown, it has been theorized that the development of Quirks was caused by the spread of a virus carried by mice. These superpowers were first referred to as Meta Abilities before later being called Quirks. A notable feature of quirks is their unfortunate drawbacks. These drawbacks help prevent overuse of one's quirk such as Bakugou being less effective during the winter or Deku breaking his muscles/ bones if he goes over his limit. The drawbacks of quirks are not heavily restricted on site and you are allowed to add your own drawback. But, the strength of your quirk MUST be balanced by the drawback, if staff grading your quirk decide that your drawback is too weak for your quirk. Please adjust if requested, staff will help if you need it! [Each person is only allowed TWO quirks max, usually merged into a single quirk anyways, unless you have a quirk that allows one to merge multiple quirks into the body. Your first quirk is available from the beginning, but one must reach TIER C+ to activate their second quirk.] There are FIVE Classifications of Quirks: - Five Classifications:
Emission - These type do not include auras. Your character emits a certain substance of sorts such as gas, poison, water, or whatever from their body. These usually come with slight body modifications such as having a tape-arm or a different colored skin. Even though these tend to change your body it does not categorize as body manipulation.
Body Manipulation - Enhancements, transformations, and simply changing the state of your body such as turning invisible goes under here. Body manipulation also carry on to others such as mind control. Examples are turning into sand or hardening your body. Transformations usually transfer out into another power type but can also give physical buffs or de-buffs. Due to the complexity of Transformation types they shall be further explained below.
Mutation - These are the type that permanently changes your body, usually into a being that can no longer be classified as human. Much like alien features with uncanny skin tones and body types, can also be animal based, allotting the individual with the Quirk numerous traits and features of the animal there form is of.
Area Manipulation - These are usually the higher tier Quirks. They allow you to directly control the environment around you in however way you deem fit. This can range from creating flowers everywhere or having your own gravity field.
Transformation - A Transformation Quirk are one of the rarest types out there. Whilst they do go under Body Manipulation they can also multi-quirk with any other typing. They tend to not only give you an additional superpower they also allow you to gain physical buffs or de-buffs to your character.
X-class - This classification is used in the rare instance a quirk doesn't fit into the above categories.
Awakening/Limit Break After initial Quirk manifestation, it is possible for the user to undergo an "Awakening". The right catalyst can cause Quirks to evolve on the spot. This results in ones Quirk gaining a new level of strength and/or new aspects to its nature that were previously not possible. This generally only happens during/because of a life or death situation where the user is on the verge of death. At this point, their quirk will evolve into a more powerful form, allowing them to survive or fight back. You must actually get into a situation that warrants your awakening of a second/empowered quirk, this is judged by staff, and we will work with you to help you achieve this goal. | |
